Bid on Malinoski, other racers’ helmets
February 23, 2009 by Andy Swanson

The sale of Ski-Doo driver Robbie Malinoski's helmet will raise money for spinal cord injury victims.
Want to get an authentic snocross race helmet and support a cause at the same time? As the snocross season winds down, so will Operation Inspiration, the program designed to raise money for Blair Morgan and other victims of spinal cord injury. But there are still opportunities to bid on authentic, race-worn helmets.
The eBay auctions start Thursday before each ISOC Amsoil Championship Snocross Series race and end Tuesday after the event, but in some cases the auctions are extended. Currently up for bid is Robbie Malinoski and Joe Parsons’ custom-painted helmets. Malinoski took the silver medal at last month’s Winter X Games Snocross final.
Helmets have sold from $400 to $1,200. The lids are worn in competition and signed by riders at selected events. Inspiration 7c has raised about $10,000 this year in helmet and T-shirt sales and funds are donated to Morgan and spinal cord research.
To bid on a helmet, go to Inspiration7c.com and follow the eBay links or go to eBay and type in “Operation Inspiration.”
